Some widgets have settings that control how the widget is displayed. To change these settings access the widget by clicking on Appearance and then Widgets in the Administrative Dashboard. Then  locate your widget in the sidebar list.  Do this by clicking on the title bar for a sidebar. This will open up  the  sidebar area displaying the active widgets in that sidebar area.  Now click on the desired widget to open it up.

The above is an example of a widget from another theme that has several settings that can be changed. Just make the desired changes and click on the Save button when done. Those changes will go into effect immediately on the page refresh.
